Health Literacy Kits
According to the US Health and Human Services Department, only 12% of adults have proficient health literacy. Our toolkit is designed to help individuals, educators, and providers recognize, understand, and advocate for health issues that are too often misdiagnosed or overlooked.
Built for patients, educators, and healthcare providers, these kits bridge the gap between medical knowledge and world experience. They center conditions that disproportionately affect women and are frequently dismissed or misdiagnosed. Through conversations with leading researchers, we've learned that in order to make a meaningful and lasting impact, we must engage every part of the care ecosystem, from physicians and educators to patients and communities themselves.
Each kit contains:
1. Symptom maps that highlight overlapping and often-missed patterns
2. “What to Ask Your Doctor” guides to help patients self-advocate during appointments
3. Plain-language condition explainers with inclusive visuals
4. Culturally tailored resources that address how race, weight stigma, and gender bias impact diagnosis and care
5. Modules for educators and clinicians to integrate into classrooms, workshops, or waiting rooms
6. Real stories from women who’ve experienced care gaps firsthand
Whether you're 16 and newly diagnosed or a community health worker trying to educate others, these kits are designed to inform, empower, and drive change.
